Watch the cold form your breath and smile
Blue eyes shining, chapped lips grinning
Shiver in the cold and listen with your soul

Close your eyes and imagine dancing across the milky-way
Colors shifting, warmth encircling, your heart beating
Outshine the stars; they grow dim as you pass
Eyes can see the universe, twinkling, sparkling, a pattern spread out for all to see
Planets move, spinning turning
The sun so bright, it's burning to your soul
Eyes open now, you're floating, far beyond the planets, stars and space
Drifting endlessly, your smile never fading, hands out, heart open
Reaching forever through the silky blackness of the dark
And in this moment, you are free, released from your earthly prison
Forever to roam the beauty of space and beyond

Listening to music I was struck by a sudden burst of literary inspiration and this was the result. I love poetry, free verse is usually my main forte, it's more fun in my opinion, you don't have to worry about rhyming or construction, you simply write from your heart and soul.
